The Huka Falls are the largest waterfalls in the Waikato River, it is also one of the most visited natural attractions in New Zealand. Just over a kilometer north of Taupo city is roughly around 10-minutes drive away from the city.
There is a good view of the falls from a ring road just off the main road, enjoy the trails along the river and tour the different viewing platforms, watching the falls from all angles. At this point, where all the water has accumulated, it flows over a 20-meter-long drop. 220,000 liters of water flow through the gorge and over the slope! It’s enough to fill an Olympic pool in just 10 seconds!
